EXPLANATION VIDEO - OUR GYMNASIUM PREPARATION COURSES

Course structure

1

Phase 1: Consolidate the basics

In our half-year courses, we repeat all the relevant basics in quick succession until the fall vacations, close gaps in your knowledge and thus create a good basis for more demanding tasks. If you choose a course that starts after the fall break, you will not have to attend this first part. We therefore only recommend this option if the regular school material is very easy for you and you feel absolutely confident in the basics.

We will be happy to advise you if you are unsure which course is right for you!

2

Phase 2: Practice exam tasks

In this phase, the focus is on challenging tasks such as those that occur in the exam. We concentrate on the different requirements (details can be found under Detailed course content), discuss different solutions and analyze possible pitfalls so that the young people know exactly what they need to pay particular attention to during the exam.

3

Part 3: Practicing exam situations

Many young people find it difficult to reach their full potential under pressure, for example in exams. The objectives of the third stage are therefore to gain self-confidence, learn strategies for coping with exam anxiety and to be able to remember what they have learned under pressure. Among other things, we write mock exams and then discuss them in detail.

Detailed course content

Right from the start, we solve tasks at grammar school level, as we believe this is the most effective preparation for the exam. Of course, we repeat the necessary theory at the beginning of each topic and respond to your individual needs if you have any questions. The content of the courses is based on the official examination requirements and covers the following topics:

German

Essay
The essay often tips the scales when it comes to passing the exam. For this reason, our students regularly write essays on which they receive detailed feedback. The following aspects are also discussed in the lessons:

  • Planning: Developing and structuring ideas (mind map)
  • Formulation: structure, comprehensibility, expression
  • Revision: spelling, grammar and style
  • Language that is appropriate, precise and varied
  • Linking of pronouns and particles, coherence of the subject and predicate, correct tense relationship

We practise understanding literary texts and non-fiction texts. The following subtopics are discussed:

  • Strategies and methods
  • Detailed answers to tasks on content and language

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to pay for tutoring in advance?

No, you don't have to. You will receive an invoice at the end of the month with all the tutoring lessons.

Can I spontaneously book more tutoring if I need to prepare for an exam, for example?

Of course - you can decide individually when and how many tutoring lessons you need. This can be significantly more one week than the next.

Do I have to bring the material myself?

You can also decide this yourself - many students would like to discuss the documents from school together and therefore take them with them to tutoring. However, we are also happy to put together additional material for you.

What happens if I am unavailable or ill?

As long as you cancel at least 24 hours in advance, we will not charge for the lesson. If you are unable to attend at very short notice, we will unfortunately have to charge you for the lesson, as we would like to pay the teachers their usual wages in such cases - and they have already fully prepared for the lesson.

Frequently asked questions

How big are the groups in your courses?

Um eine optimale Förderung gewährleisten zu können, sind unsere Kurse auf maximal 8 Teilnehmende in den halbjährigen Kursen und 10 Teilnehmende in den Intensiv- und Ferienkursen beschränkt.

Are you also available for support outside of course times?

Of course, we are always available for our students and are happy to help with any questions. We have group chats in the respective course groups to make it easy to get in touch.

What learning material is included in the course?

The course fee includes a comprehensive folder with theory, exercises and solutions. Students also receive access to our digital course platform with explanatory videos, numerous additional exercises and checkpoints. We are also happy to put together additional materials on request.

What exactly are repetition lessons and checkpoints?

In the voluntary revision lessons, all the relevant basics that were previously discussed in the course are repeated again. The lesson is recorded so that you have the opportunity to watch it afterwards if you are unable to attend live. Our checkpoints are specially developed interim tests that can be completed after each learning unit. This means that young people always know exactly what they have already mastered and what they still need to work on.
